The first Asian-American mayor of Oakland, California was sworn into office earlier this week. Jean Quan is also the city's first female mayor and came from humble beginnings in a poor, immigrant family to win the mayoral race. Quan talks with host Michel Martin about her upbringing, her work as a social justice activist and her vision for Oakland's future.
